The concretization of trees is not a local issue; it's a global crisis. Ignorance and lack of knowledge are killing our trees and damaging the environment. During the summer break, our dedicated volunteers gathered geo-tagged data on over 100 trees encased in concrete in France and Switzerland. We are now petitioning the authorities to take immediate action. This is a critical matter that demands urgent attention. If left unaddressed, the consequences will be devastating for our ecosystems and future generations. We cannot afford to ignore this any longer.
We collected geo-tagged data on about 300 trees in Faridabad. Our consistent reminders and efforts have paid off. The Government of Haryana has floated a tender for 5.87 lakhs to remove the concrete around 300 trees and install brick edging around them. We have been honoured and appointed to supervise the work in this area.
An experiment to show the stark temperature difference between the concretised and the non cemented area. Delhi is reeling under 52 degrees Celsius. Concrete absorbs heat and makes the city warmer. We need to do small bits to protect the city from the harmful effects of urbanisation.
